Bhubaneswar: The upper part of the 500-year-old historic Gopinath Temple, once submerged in Mahanadi in Padmavati village of Odisha, has once again started appearing above the river. The Shivala of this ancient temple submerged in the Mahanadi has suddenly come up in the middle of the river. According to media reports, the history of this temple is linked to the 15th or 16th century. Locals believe that the idol of Lord Gopinath was installed in this temple, which is considered to be the form of Lord Vishnu. Earlier, the upper part of the temple appeared above due to low water level of the river a few years ago and once again the Shivala of this temple has started appearing above the river.

According to the team of Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), they have discovered this ancient temple. According to INTACH research scholar Anil Kumar Dhir, the temple and village were submerged in the river when the flood occurred in Mahanadi about one and a half years ago, but the locals here took the idols of God with them He went to a high place.
