Controversy has arisen over a video posted on social media by Union Minister Babul Supriyo that allegedly shows a dead patient in a separate ward of a state hospital. The West Bengal government has questioned the veracity of this video and said that the opposition BJP is adept at spreading fake news. The Mamata government banned mobile phones in hospitals after the video surfaced.
Supriyo posted the video on Twitter claiming that it was public and urged the ruling Trinamool Congress to investigate the matter immediately.

Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change wrote on Twitter, 'This is a shocking video … Since this video is public, I urge the Honorable Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee to do a thorough investigation and release the facts. '

Senior Minister of West Bengal and Trinamool Congress General Secretary Partha Chatterjee said that to ascertain the veracity of the video Is required and the administration will take appropriate steps if the material is found to be correct. Chatterjee said that we have to check first whether the video is true or fake, as we all know that BJP specializes in spreading fake videos.
Supriyo said in another tweet that the state government has not yet claimed Since the video is fake, it brings us closer to believing that it is indeed true.
